UNFPA Announces Appointment of New Representative in Yemen

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) announced on Monday the appointment of a new representative for Yemen, amid ongoing financial challenges facing the organization’s operations in the country.
In an official statement, the Fund stated that Francesco Galtieri will assume his new duties as UNFPA Representative in Yemen, where he will oversee the implementation of programs related to reproductive health, women’s empowerment, and youth support.
The statement noted that Galtieri brings extensive experience of over 20 years in international relations, with a particular focus on development issues and humanitarian response. He has previously worked in several African and Arab countries, as well as in Europe and at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
Galtieri has held multiple leadership positions, including serving as UNFPA Representative in Guinea, and as Director of the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Burkina Faso and Syria. He also worked as a Regional Policy Advisor in the UN Department of Development Support, where he contributed to enhancing peacebuilding and local development initiatives.
