Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Yemeni delegation participated in the 11th session of the Conference on Dialogue Between Chinese and Arab Civilizations, held in the Chinese capital, Beijing. The event marked the 20th anniversary of this unique civilizational framework that brings together China and the Arab world on the values of cooperation, peace, and mutual respect.
In his speech, Yemeni Shura Council member Salah Batis emphasized the importance of exchanging expertise in the fields of governance and administration. He noted that the Chinese experience offers an inspiring model in sustainable development and poverty reduction, while preserving cultural identity and societal values.
Batis stressed that the outcomes of Yemen’s Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference represent a major turning point in building a modern state founded on partnership, justice, and good governance—principles that align with China’s vision of respecting diversity and the right of peoples to choose their own development paths.
He affirmed that Chinese initiatives such as the Belt and Road Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative provide important opportunities to enhance peace and development in the region, pointing out that development and dialogue are the best means to achieve stability and prosperity away from conflict.
Batis added that the partnership between China and the Arab world can effectively contribute to exchanging experiences, strengthening capacities in good governance and local administration, and building institutions—supporting balanced development in developing countries and serving the aspirations of their peoples.
He concluded by affirming Yemen’s desire to end the Houthi rebellion, restore the state, and build a new Yemen based on the outcomes of the Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference. He highlighted hopes that this civilizational dialogue would help reinforce Yemen’s historic role as a crossroads of civilizations and trade routes, and as an active partner for a more stable future.
Batis also expressed his gratitude to the People’s Republic of China—its leadership and people—as well as the conference organizers and all participants, praising the event’s role in strengthening cultural and political ties between the two sides.
