“Red Wave 8” Maneuvers Conclude with Participation from Yemen and Several Regional Countries

The joint naval exercise “Red Wave 8” concluded at King Faisal Naval Base in the Western Fleet in Jeddah, with the participation of force commanders from Yemen, Jordan, Egypt, Djibouti, and Sudan, in addition to the host country, Saudi Arabia.
The exercise witnessed the execution of a series of advanced naval maneuvers, including training in anti-submarine warfare, electronic warfare, and anti-surface and anti-air operations, in addition to live fire on surface and aerial targets, maritime security drills, and countering unmanned surface vessels (USVs). A group of modern naval units participated in the exercise, utilizing advanced defensive systems in the live fire operations.
The exercise also included field scenarios for amphibious landings, fighting within built-up areas, and coastal defense, along with reconnaissance, raiding coastal targets, counter-terrorism missions, hostage rescue, mine clearance, and dealing with suspicious objects. The maneuvers involved live ammunition firing using light and medium weapons, in addition to aerial firing by naval air assets, specifically the “MH60R” aircraft.
The Exercise Director, Naval Brigadier General Abdullah Al-Anzi, affirmed that the maneuvers successfully achieved their objectives, contributing to enhancing the participating countries’ capabilities to deter regional threats and raise the level of coordination in exchanging intelligence and security information to protect the region’s maritime security.
He added that the exercise solidified joint action among the naval forces of the participating nations and unified operational concepts, thereby strengthening their ability to confront various maritime threats. He noted that the maneuvers raised the combat readiness of the forces in environments simulating realistic confrontation conditions and irregular threats.
