Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The Sixth Military Region of the Yemeni Army announced on Thursday that its forces had seized more than one ton of hashish and other banned substances in the eastern desert of Al-Jawf Governorate (northeastern Yemen), which were en route to Houthi-controlled areas.

Major General Haykal Hantaf, Commander of the Sixth Military Region, stated that the region’s units had recently carried out a large-scale security deployment campaign in the eastern desert of Al-Jawf, resulting in the seizure of large drug shipments at different times. He said this effort is part of ongoing operations to combat smuggling and safeguard security and stability in liberated areas.

General Hantaf affirmed that the military leadership is committed to implementing its plans aimed at cutting off smuggling routes and arresting anyone who threatens citizens’ safety. He emphasized that protecting the national security of Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a shared national responsibility that requires cooperation among citizens, local authorities, and security agencies.

The seized substances were handed over to the competent authorities in the presence of Major General Khaled Al-Ashwal, Chief of War Operations, the region’s Military Prosecutor General, and several military and security leaders, who praised the efforts of the units involved in the campaign and their tangible successes in tightening the noose on smugglers and trafficking networks.

This achievement is part of the ongoing security and military efforts by the Sixth Military Region to maintain security, combat organized crime, and prevent the smuggling of prohibited substances that pose a threat to society and the national economy.
