Human Rights Organization: 80 People, Mostly Patients and Elderly, Kidnapped by Houthis Today in Dhamar

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
A human rights organization has revealed that 80 people, mostly patients and the elderly, were kidnapped by the Houthi group in the Dhamar governorate today, Tuesday.
The Musawa Organization for Rights and Freedoms said in a statement, a copy of which was obtained by “Yemen Monitor,” that a massive campaign of raids and arbitrary arrests carried out by the Houthi group targeted more than 80 people, the majority of whom are patients and the elderly, confirming that the campaign is still ongoing as of the moment the statement was written.
The organization condemned in the strongest terms the kidnapping campaign witnessed in the Dhamar governorate, considering it a gross violation of social peace and security and of the provisions of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions.
The organization demanded the immediate and unconditional release of all detainees and held the Houthi group fully legally responsible for their safety, calling on the international community to intervene urgently to stop these violations and hold those responsible accountable.
The Dhamar governorate witnessed a wide kidnapping campaign since the early morning hours, including the former Governor’s Undersecretary, Mohammed Ahmed Al-Hajri, and dozens of others across various districts of Dhamar. The campaign was accompanied by house raids and the terrorizing of children and women.
