Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Yemeni Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Shaea Al-Zandani, met today with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly to discuss ways of enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries. The talks included preparations for holding a strategic dialogue, convening the joint high committee, and activating joint committees to develop cooperation in various economic and investment fields.

Minister Al-Zandani praised the historic fraternal ties between Yemen and Egypt, affirming the Yemeni government’s keenness to expand the horizons of bilateral cooperation in a way that serves the interests of both brotherly peoples.

The meeting also reviewed the overall political situation in the region, particularly the continued Houthi attacks on navigation in the Red Sea, which pose a threat to global trade security and have a direct impact on the economic stability of both countries and the region.

Both sides agreed on the importance of continuing consultation and coordination with brotherly countries, foremost among them Saudi Arabia, to support the Yemeni government and back its efforts in addressing security challenges and achieving economic recovery, in addition to advancing bilateral cooperation on issues of mutual concern.
