Taiz Police announced on Monday that they had arrested four suspects in connection with the assassination of the Director of the Cleaning and Improvement Fund in the governorate, Professor Aftihan Al-Mashhari.
The Police Department of Mashra’a and Hadnan District confirmed in a statement that among those arrested was the motorcycle driver used by the perpetrators to carry out the crime.
Security services continue to investigate the suspects to uncover all circumstances surrounding the incident and pursue the remaining accomplices.
Taiz Police called on everyone to cooperate with the joint security campaign to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice, reaffirming their ongoing efforts to achieve security and stability in the governorate.
Earlier, the leadership of the Taiz Military Axis and the city’s police, in a joint statement, confirmed that operations are continuing to track down the fifth suspect in the assassination of Aftihan Al-Mashhari.
The statement suggested that the suspect may be located in the northeastern sector of the city, where there is a widespread deployment of the joint security campaign and units of the women’s police. It also accused so-called “propaganda outlets” of spreading rumors about a lack of cooperation from some units with the campaign.
