Tariq Saleh Calls for Partnership and Consensus within the Presidential Council

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The Political Bureau of the National Resistance, led by Brigadier General Tariq Saleh, member of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, renewed its call to uphold the principle of national partnership and respect the mechanism of consensus in decision-making, stressing that partnership “is not an option but a necessity” that cannot be bypassed.

In a statement published on “2 December Agency,” affiliated with Tariq Saleh, the bureau warned that any attempt to marginalize political forces or push through unilateral decisions would lead to the “erosion of national gains” achieved during years of confrontation with the Houthis.

This call was in line with similar positions expressed by other members of the Presidential Council aligned with the UAE-backed STC, most notably Faraj al-Bahsani and Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami, who also stressed the need for consensus in decision-making following the recent crisis sparked by Aidarous al-Zubaidi, after he issued decisions outside his authority.

These simultaneous positions reveal a clear alignment of a UAE-backed current within the Presidential Council, seeking to impose a new formula in power management amid growing criticism of Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi and accusations of unilateral decision-making.
