Floods Claim 6 Lives and Cause Widespread Property Damage in Eastern Yemen

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The governorate of Shabwa in eastern Yemen experienced a new humanitarian disaster on Monday after heavy rains and devastating floods caused the deaths of six people in the districts of Bayhan, Ossilan, and Al Talh.
According to the governorate’s media office, the floods swept away three cars and caused damage to main roads and electricity grids, in addition to harming large areas of agricultural land.
Shabwa’s Governor, Awadh Mohammed bin Al-Wazir, instructed the relevant authorities to quickly assess the damage and submit urgent reports to take the necessary measures, emphasizing that protecting the lives and property of citizens is a top priority for local authorities.
In turn, the Early Warning Center called on residents to exercise extreme caution as the weather disturbances continue, warning against the dangers of being in valley bottoms or attempting to cross roads during flash floods.
