An armed assault took place in the Al-Masbah neighborhood of Taiz city targeting a committee from the Office of Industry and Trade while it was inspecting a violation at Al-Janad Bakery.
According to a human rights source, the attackers brandished weapons, seized the enforcement officer’s mobile phone, confiscated violation reports, and hurled insults at both the committee and the state.
Lawyer Omar Al-Hamiri stated on his Facebook account that the attack occurred during the process of documenting a violation at the bakery, highlighting the challenges faced by authorities in enforcing market regulations and price control.
This incident comes amid ongoing intensive government campaigns to regulate pricing, coinciding with a noticeable improvement in the value of the Yemeni rial, as part of broader efforts to maintain economic stability and curb market abuses.
