Yemeni President Says Meetings with Political Parties Are Not for Publicity

Yemen Monitor / Aden / Exclusive

Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad Al-Alimi stated on Monday that his regular meetings with political parties “are not a publicity platform,” responding to recent accusations by the Political Bureau of the National Resistance of being excluded from such gatherings.

His remarks came during a meeting with the leadership of the Supreme Council of the National Coalition of Political Parties, chaired by Shura Council President Ahmed Obaid Bin Daghr.

Al-Alimi emphasized that “these regular meetings are not for show, but rather a necessary response to the demands of partnership, the complexity of the political, economic, and military landscape, and the aspirations for the future.”

He added: “Engaging national forces in the developments of the current phase and its intertwined challenges remains a presidential commitment dictated by the requirements of national partnership and the goals of the transitional period as outlined in the power transfer declaration and related frameworks.”

Al-Alimi stressed the vital role of political parties and components in defending the state project and the republican system, offering advice and guidance, and mobilizing efforts and resources to end the suffering and overthrow the coup by the Houthi terrorist group, backed by the Iranian regime.

The head of the Presidential Leadership Council also highlighted “the importance of accurately identifying the causes of the current financial crisis, particularly the halt in oil exports due to the Houthi militia’s terrorist attacks, which aimed to halt the momentum of the Republican coalition and plunge the country into a full-blown humanitarian crisis.”

On June 26, the National Coalition of Yemeni Political Parties called on the Presidential Council to address the worsening economic and security conditions in areas liberated from the Houthis and to raise public sector salaries.
