Tariq Saleh Stresses Dialogue Between His Political Bloc and Other Yemeni Legitimacy Forces

Yemen Monitor / Mocha / Exclusive:

Tariq Saleh, a member of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, emphasized on Monday the importance of dialogue between the Political Bureau of the National Resistance—which he leads—and other parties within the internationally recognized Yemeni government. His remarks come just days after the Bureau issued a statement alleging exclusion by Council Chairman Rashad Al-Alimi.

This came during a meeting chaired by Saleh with the leadership of the Political Bureau, where they reviewed the outcomes of the statement released on June 23, the reactions it triggered, and subsequent communications, according to the Bureau’s media outlet, 2 December Agency.

The Political Bureau of the National Resistance, backed by the UAE, had earlier accused Al-Alimi of sidelining it from official council affairs.

Tariq Saleh highlighted the need to deepen communication and coordination with all national forces and components, based on partnership and shared responsibility.

During the meeting, he underscored the importance of engaging in dialogue between the Political Bureau and various parties within the legitimate government to achieve meaningful outcomes in the national struggle to defeat Iran’s proxy forces controlling the Yemeni capital—referring to the Houthis.

Saleh also reaffirmed the Political Bureau’s support for the Presidential Leadership Council, stating, “Our compass remains firmly pointed toward restoring the state and its institutions and ending the coup.”

Earlier on Monday, Rashad Al-Alimi had affirmed in a meeting with leaders of Yemen’s political coalition that the participation of national forces in addressing current developments and complex challenges remains a presidential commitment dictated by the needs of national partnership.

The recent dispute—now publicly aired by the Political Bureau based in Mocha—has raised questions about the level of fragmentation within the Presidential Leadership Council, which was established following the 2022 power transfer agreement. Observers are also questioning whether the council is sufficiently focused on addressing the collapsing currency and worsening economic conditions affecting citizens.
