Serious Violations Against Yemeni Detainee – Horrific Details Emerge from Houthi Prisons
Yemen Monitor – Newsroom:
A Yemeni human rights organization reported on Tuesday that it had received a disturbing report indicating that a female detainee is being subjected to severe abuse inside a prison controlled by the Houthi group. According to the report, Entisar Al-Hammadi is enduring dire humanitarian conditions.
The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms stated that it is deeply concerned about Al-Hammadi’s case, who is reportedly facing systematic torture, including both physical and psychological abuse, electric shocks, and prolonged solitary confinement.
The organization added that the detainee is being denied even the most basic human rights, including access to necessary medical treatment and family visits—clear violations of international laws and conventions.
The network also noted that Al-Hammadi remains in detention despite the completion of her legal sentence, while her co-defendants in the same case have already been released. This raises serious questions about the true reasons behind her continued imprisonment.
The organization renewed its urgent appeal to the international community and human rights bodies to pressure for Al-Hammadi’s immediate release and an end to the abuses she is facing, emphasizing the need to hold those responsible for these crimes accountable.
