Governor of Taiz Discusses with WFP Expanding Humanitarian Interventions and Meeting Urgent Needs

The Governor of Taiz Governorate, Nabil Shamsan, discussed today in the interim capital, Aden, with the Deputy Country Director of the World Food Programme (WFP) in Yemen, Al-Rashid Hammad, the urgent humanitarian and service needs in the governorate, in light of the increasing population density and continuous waves of displacement.
The Governor praised the program’s role in providing aid to Yemen, stressing the need to expand its interventions to include more directorates, especially in the areas of school feeding, by supporting new schools and additional educational centers within the administrative units of the governorate.
Shamsan affirmed the local authority’s keenness to facilitate the tasks of international organizations and to work jointly with donors, the private sector, and civil society organizations to meet the needs of citizens and enhance the effectiveness of humanitarian interventions.
For their part, representatives of the WFP explained that their efforts are ongoing to involve community committees to ensure that support reaches the neediest groups, noting the program’s commitment to continue its support for Yemen and improve aid distribution mechanisms.
