Grundberg Delivers New Briefing to Security Council on Developments in Yemen

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Yemen will present a new briefing today, Tuesday, before the UN Security Council, reviewing the latest political and military developments in the country.
The Office of the UN Envoy stated in a brief announcement that the session will commence at 5:00 PM Yemen time.
It is likely that the briefing will address the results of recent efforts led by Grundberg aimed at de-escalation and reviving the stalled political process in the country.
This briefing follows a diplomatic tour conducted by the UN Envoy, which included [Oman] and [Saudi Arabia], where he held meetings with Yemeni and Saudi officials, as well as several foreign ambassadors, to discuss ways to overcome the challenges hindering the path to peace.
Grundberg is expected to focus his briefing on files concerning military de-escalation and economic deterioration, in addition to the issue of abductees and detainees. He is expected to warn of the consequences of continued political deadlock on the humanitarian situation, as millions of Yemenis suffer from acute shortages of food and basic services.
