The Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree delivered a message to the Iranian people during a televised program on Iranian state television, saying that Tehran “will ultimately prevail.”
This is considered the first appearance by the Houthi military spokesman since attacks in the Red Sea stopped last year, at a time when the group continues to maintain a strategy of cautious observation regarding the U.S.–Israeli war against Iran.
Speaking on a program about the Qur’an, Saree addressed a direct message to the Iranian people, saying that the Iranian nation is “a faithful and steadfast people who will certainly triumph over Zionism.” He also urged Iranians to maintain unity and solidarity in the face of external pressures.
Addressing Iranians, he said:
“Stand firm against American demands, and do not surrender your freedom and independence to the Israeli entity.”
Saree did not mention in his remarks whether the group would enter the war.
Meanwhile, an Iranian military official said on Wednesday that if the war against Iran expands, another strait—besides the Strait of Hormuz—could be closed, referring to the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.
