Hebrew Media: Yemeni Citizen Arrested Attempting to Storm Israeli Consulate in Munich

Yemen Monitor / Munich / Agencies:
A Yemeni citizen was arrested on suspicion of throwing stones at the Consulate General of the Israeli occupation in the city of Munich and attempting to storm it, according to a report by the Hebrew newspaper “The Jerusalem Post,” citing German police.
Police told the Hebrew newspaper that at approximately 11:20 AM on Saturday, police officers assigned to protect the Israeli Consulate General noticed a man throwing objects—later identified as stones—at the building.
Following this, the 24-year-old man attempted to storm the embassy while shouting “Allahu Akbar,” where he was arrested on-site by police personnel.
The Hebrew newspaper claimed that the Yemeni man “had placed a backpack with unknown contents in front of the building. Since the possibility that the bag contained an explosive device could not be ruled out, police established a wide security cordon around Karolinenplatz.”
After evacuating the area of bystanders to minimize potential risks, experts from the Special Services Police Inspectorate, in cooperation with the explosives unit of the State Criminal Investigation Office, examined the bag and declared it free of any threat.
The 24-year-old man has been referred to the authorities on charges including property damage and resisting law enforcement officers; he was also hospitalized as he was considered to pose an acute danger to himself and others.
A Munich police spokesperson told the newspaper that it is still too early to determine if the crime will be classified as a “hate crime.” However, it was confirmed that the investigation is being handled by a criminal investigation department specialized in politically motivated crimes.
