Navigation Warnings After Explosion Near Tanker in UAE Waters

Yemen Monitor – Newsroom:

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) announced that an explosion occurred near a tanker 10 nautical miles east of the Emirate of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates.

The British authority stated that the explosion resulted in debris from an unidentified projectile scattering onto the ship’s deck, causing minor damage without any serious harm or oil spill.

It confirmed that all crew members aboard the tanker are safe. Relevant authorities have launched investigations to determine the circumstances of the incident and the source of the projectile. The authority also urged vessels transiting the area to exercise caution.

Meanwhile, French fighter jets stationed in the UAE carried out an operation to secure French sites after intercepting Iranian drones that were targeting the UAE, according to an announcement by the French Foreign Minister.

In a related development, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced the complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz, threatening to burn any ship attempting to pass through. This move could lead to disruptions in energy markets and international maritime navigation.

An advisor to the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard confirmed that any vessel attempting to transit the strait would be targeted, noting that this decision could drive oil prices to record levels.
