Presidential Warning to the Houthis: Categoric Rejection of Using Yemeni Territory for Cross-Border Attacks

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) has renewed its warning to the Houthi group against engaging in the dangerous regional military escalation, holding them responsible for any consequences that might drag the country into a broader conflict. The Council affirmed the Republic of Yemen’s rejection of its territory being used as a platform for launching cross-border attacks carried out by proxy for the Iranian regime.

This came during a meeting held by the Council on Saturday evening to discuss national developments and regional updates, foremost of which is the unprecedented military escalation in the region and its impact on international peace and security.

The Council emphasized that any attempt to plunge Yemen into regional or international confrontations represents a direct threat to the country’s security and stability and exacerbates the suffering of the Yemeni people. It stressed the state’s commitment to protecting its sovereignty and preventing the exploitation of its lands for hostile proxy activities.

The Council further asserted that maintaining the internal front and neutralizing Yemen from regional conflicts is a national priority, calling on all parties to fulfill their responsibilities and prioritize the country’s supreme interests.

Additionally, the Council confirmed its commitment to taking all necessary measures to maintain security and stability and to enhance readiness to face any potential threats, ensuring the protection of Yemeni territory and the preservation of higher national interests.

The Council reviewed a position assessment regarding the repercussions of the military escalation, including Iranian attacks on the sovereignty of several sisterly nations following American and Israeli strikes on Iranian regime sites, and the reflections of these events on national, regional, and international security.

The Council renewed Yemen’s condemnation of the Iranian attacks targeting the territories and sovereignty of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, considering them a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter and the rules of international law.

The Presidential Leadership Council affirmed Yemen’s full solidarity with these nations, standing by them in all measures they take to protect their national security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. It held the Iranian regime fully responsible for the consequences of this escalation and the continued undermining of opportunities for de-escalation and good neighborly relations.
