The National Center for Public Health Laboratories in Taiz has revealed the results of laboratory tests on vegetable samples collected to verify they are free from cholera bacteria.
An official document issued by the center explained that the tests included 16 samples of various types of vegetables arriving from several regions, including Sana’a, Bani Hushaysh, Sanhan, Ibb, Lahj, and Tihama, following five days of analysis at the central laboratory.
The results indicated that some samples tested positive for Vibrio cholerae, while other samples were found to be free of the bacteria. The positive samples included vegetable varieties identified as being grown in Sana’a and Lahj.
The laboratory administration confirmed that these tests were conducted to verify the presence of cholera bacteria as part of standard health safety procedures. The administration has submitted a copy of the results to the Governor and the Deputy Governor for Health Affairs in a step aimed at strengthening health oversight.
