Houthis Release 3 Detainees in Ibb Governorate

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The Houthi group in Ibb Governorate (central Yemen) released three detainees over the past two days after months of detention and enforced disappearance in their prisons.

Local sources stated that the Houthis in Ibb released Mr. Ali Hassan Ahmed al-Sabri from al-Makhadir district, Muhammad Nu’man Qasim al-Khulani from al-Sayyani district, and Rizq Abdu Taher al-Lahabi, a school supervisor in al-Nadirah district. Their release comes after seven months of detention without any charges being filed or any referral to the public prosecution.

The sources added that the three released individuals were arrested between July 20 and 21, 2025, and remained forcibly disappeared for several months before the group revealed their whereabouts and set them free.

Last week, the Houthis released engineer Hamza al-Dumaini after months of detention alongside his father, who remains in prison in Ibb city.

Dozens of detainees still remain in Houthi prisons following the arrest campaigns witnessed in Ibb Governorate in the middle of last year. Human rights reports have previously documented 99 cases of enforced disappearance in Ibb.
