Yemeni Prime Minister: We Are Committed to Working from within the Country

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Yemeni Prime Minister Shaya Mohsen Al‑Zindani affirmed the government’s commitment to operating from within the country, stressing that holding the first Cabinet meeting in the temporary capital Aden since the government’s formation and constitutional oath marks the beginning of a new phase defined by on-the-ground presence and institutional discipline. He emphasized that no government member will remain abroad except under strict conditions required by national interest.

The Prime Minister explained that the government’s top priority is implementing the directives of Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad Al‑Alimi to deliver a different model of performance and results through a clearly defined executive program with specific responsibilities, performance indicators, and timelines—aimed at restoring public trust and strengthening state institutions.

The Cabinet stressed that improving basic services—especially electricity, water, healthcare, and education—along with the regular payment of public sector salaries, is a top priority and a fundamental right of citizens. It pledged intensified oversight to ensure uninterrupted service delivery and to transform Aden into a practical model of a state capable of enforcing order and achieving economic recovery.

On the economic front, the Prime Minister announced the preparation of a government program through the end of the year focused on curbing inflation, protecting purchasing power, supporting the independence of the central bank, regulating public revenues, stopping illegal levies, and approving a realistic 2026 budget. He also stressed that any improvement in the national currency’s exchange rate must be directly reflected in the prices of goods and services, with tighter market supervision and anti-monopoly measures.

Regarding security, the Cabinet emphasized that security and stability form the solid foundation for any development or economic reform process. It affirmed full government support for security and military institutions to enforce order and the rule of law, confront sabotage and attempts to disturb public tranquility, respect freedom of expression within the law, and take firm action against any violations.

The government also renewed its commitment to peace and a political solution to end the coup while retaining all legitimate options to restore state institutions. It expressed appreciation for the support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the legitimate government and emphasized the importance of dialogue to address national issues in a spirit of responsibility and consensus.

In conclusion, the Prime Minister affirmed that the government will remain on the ground among the people, working with all available resources to improve living conditions and enhance stability, paving the way for a new phase of reconstruction and development.
