Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Presidential Leadership Council member Abdullah Al-Alimi confirmed that continued coordination with both the United States and Saudi Arabia represents a fundamental pillar for supporting Yemen’s stability and enhancing national and regional security.

This came during his meeting on Tuesday with the US Ambassador to Yemen, Steven Fagin, where the two sides discussed the paths of bilateral relations and ways to develop them, alongside the latest developments on the national scene.

The meeting addressed the priorities of the current stage, foremost of which is supporting the government and building its institutional capacities, improving basic services in the liberated governorates, and restoring confidence in international financing institutions to enhance opportunities for economic recovery and alleviate the living burdens on citizens.

Al-Alimi praised the American role in supporting legitimacy, combating terrorism, and protecting regional and international security, stressing the importance of continued coordination to face threats targeting the security of Yemen and the region. He also valued the firm stance toward the terrorist Houthi militias and the pressure on Iran to limit its interference.

In the same context, he noted the pivotal role played by Saudi Arabia in supporting Yemen politically, economically, and humanitarily, and the tangible improvement reflected in several service-related files, emphasizing that this support constitutes an important backbone for the path of stability and recovery.

He also reaffirmed the importance of empowering the Prime Minister and the government to implement programs for normalizing conditions and improving services, noting that the government’s work from the temporary capital, Aden, reflects the state’s commitment to facing challenges from within.

For his part, the American Ambassador affirmed his country’s continued support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government, the strengthening of joint cooperation in political, security, and economic fields, and working with regional and international partners to advance stability and peace efforts.
