Two Soldiers Injured During Drug Raid in Shabwah

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
Shabwah Governorate police successfully delivered a major blow to drug trafficking networks by arresting two high-risk individuals involved in the drug trade. The arrests followed an armed clash during a security operation west of the city of Ataq.
The Drug Enforcement Administration reported that the operation was carried out based on precise intelligence and lengthy investigations, which enabled security forces to track the suspects to their hideout in an abandoned building in the Sha’ab al-Tum area.
During the raid, the suspects opened heavy fire on security forces and refused to surrender, resulting in the injury of two soldiers. Security forces eventually managed to secure the site and apprehend the suspects without further casualties.
Authorities seized quantities of “Shabu” (crystal meth), along with firearms and a motorcycle used to distribute drugs across several districts in the governorate.
Police confirmed that official reports have been filed, and the suspects are in custody pending legal proceedings and referral to the competent judicial authorities.
