UN Predicts the Rise of People Needing Aid in Yemen to 22 Million in 2026

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The United Nations warned today of a deterioration in the humanitarian situation in Yemen next year, predicting that the number of people in need of humanitarian assistance will exceed 22 million, under conditions it described as “extremely concerning.”
The UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen, Julian Harness, explained via the organization’s account on the X platform that the humanitarian crisis is likely to worsen, particularly in the northern regions controlled by the Houthi group, noting that the number of people in need last year reached about 19.5 million.
Harness pointed out that the continued funding gap for the humanitarian response has contributed to reducing the volume of aid provided to affected civilians, further increasing the fragility of the humanitarian situation in the country.
