IOM Announces the Displacement of 40 Yemeni Families in One Week

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced that 40 Yemeni families, comprising 240 individuals, were displaced over the past week due to the deterioration of security and economic conditions in several Yemeni governorates.
In its weekly report, the organization stated that the displaced families left the governorates of Hadramawt, Al Hudaydah, Taiz, and Lahj, heading to various areas within the country. Marib Governorate was the main destination, receiving 33 families, followed by Al Mahrah Governorate with four families, and then Shabwah Governorate with three families.
The organization noted that security-related reasons were the primary driver of displacement, accounting for 65% of cases, amid ongoing fears of conflict, while economic reasons represented 35% of total displacement cases.
Regarding humanitarian needs, the organization reported that 45% of the newly displaced families are in urgent need of shelter, while 30% suffer from shortages of food supplies, and 23% lack cash assistance. In addition, a number of families require support for livelihoods.
The organization added that the total number of displaced families since the beginning of the current month has risen to 468 families, totaling 2,808 individuals, reflecting the escalating suffering of displaced people amid the continuation of humanitarian and security crises in the country
