Nasser Sharif, Deputy Minister of Transport for the internationally recognized government, announced that Mokha International Airport in Taiz governorate will officially begin receiving commercial flights starting next Sunday, following the completion of all technical and administrative requirements for operational commencement.
Sharif clarified that launching flights through the airport represents an important step towards enhancing the infrastructure of the civil aviation sector. He pointed out that its operation will contribute to revitalizing transportation and services in the western coastal regions and nearby areas, in addition to its expected role in stimulating economic activity and supporting local development efforts.
In mid-January, Yemenia Airways announced the adoption of a schedule for two weekly flights between Mokha Airport and King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.
In April 2024, the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology had stated that the airport had become ready to receive flights as a Category (G) airport, with operations during the first phase to be conducted from sunrise to sunset.
