Yemen Monitor/ Newsroom:

The police of the interim capital, Aden, stated in a statement this evening that the location where the convoy of the military commander in the Giants Brigade forces, Hamdi Shukri, was targeted belongs administratively to the Lahj Governorate (southern Yemen).

According to a security source, the assassination attempt—targeting him with a car bomb in the Ja’awala area while he was passing within the geographical and administrative scope of Lahj Governorate—resulted, according to an initial toll, in the martyrdom of two people and the injury of five others with varying degrees of severity.

The source confirmed that the site of the incident is located administratively and geographically within Lahj Governorate, stressing the need for accuracy in media coverage and not involving the capital, Aden, in events that occur outside its administrative scope.

The source explained that the security services immediately began carrying out their field procedures as soon as the incident occurred, as the explosion site was cordoned off, the area was secured, and the injured were treated and transported to nearby hospitals, in addition to opening an urgent investigation to uncover the circumstances of the crime and the parties involved in it.

The source pointed out that security coordination between the capital, Aden, Lahj Governorate, and neighboring governorates is continuous within the framework of joint security work, ensuring the exchange of information, the pursuit of criminal elements, and the promotion of stability.

He stressed that the security services are in a state of permanent readiness, and that any attempts targeting leaders or threatening security will be met with firmness and will not pass without legal prosecution and holding those involved accountable.
