The Chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, on Wednesday held a meeting with the governors of Al-Mahrah and Shabwah governorates—Mohammed Ali Yasser and Awad bin Al-Wazir—during which they discussed developments in the two governorates, efforts to enhance stability, improve services, and normalize public life, as well as upcoming security and development plans.

During the meeting, Al-Alimi listened to brief presentations from the governors on the living conditions of citizens, the level of services, and mechanisms for coordination between local authorities and the central government, in a way that contributes to unified decision-making, integrated security and development efforts, and strengthened state institutions.

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the relative stability achieved in Al-Mahrah and Shabwah, considering them models of the state’s ability to manage challenges when there is aware local leadership and disciplined institutional work. He commended the wise approach adopted by the leadership of the two governorates in handling security and political files, prioritizing the logic of the state and the rule of law over chaos and the imposition of faits accomplis.

Al-Alimi also lauded the role of the security and military forces in the two governorates, and their alignment with protecting citizens and maintaining public tranquility, affirming the state’s support for formal institutions while stressing their right to hold accountable any individuals or leaders who act outside the legal framework.

He emphasized that Al-Mahrah and Shabwah constitute a fundamental pillar of Yemen’s security and stability, and an important element in safeguarding regional security and vital maritime routes, warning that any attempts to destabilize them fall within efforts to target the Yemeni state and regional security as a whole.

Al-Alimi expressed pride in the people of Al-Mahrah and Shabwah, praising their national awareness, their support for the state, and their commitment to protecting their governorates from being drawn into violence or chaos, affirming that these positions will be met with genuine efforts in development and fairness.

In the same context, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council renewed his appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s role and its supportive stance toward Yemen’s security, unity, and stability. He praised the development projects being implemented, foremost among them the King Salman Medical and Educational City project in Al-Mahrah, noting its strategic importance in improving healthcare services and training national cadres.

He also highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting the operation of Shabwah Hospital and equipping a number of model schools, considering these projects a practical example of fraternal partnership and an important step toward building a development model in the liberated governorates.

Al-Alimi directed the local authorities in Al-Mahrah and Shabwah to continue consolidating security and stability, prevent any armed manifestations outside the framework of the state, accelerate the implementation of service and development projects with direct impact on citizens’ lives, enhance coordination with government agencies on security and economic issues, combat terrorism, and raise levels of transparency and financial and administrative discipline.
