The Sultanate of Oman Provides Financial Support to Teachers in Al-Mahrah

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The local authority in Al-Mahrah Governorate (eastern Yemen) discussed on Tuesday with the Chief Executive Officer of the Omani Charitable Organization, His Excellency Dr. Badr Al-Zaabi, the final arrangements and the mechanism for disbursing financial support allocated to teachers in the governorate.

The meeting addressed the mechanism for disbursing the support to teachers under strict guidelines, in four phases throughout the year 2026. The first phase will begin during the holy month of Ramadan, with an amount of 50 Omani rials for each male and female teacher, including permanent and contracted staff, benefiting a total of 3,500 recipients. The remaining three phases will follow during the academic year.

During the meeting, the Secretary-General of the Local Council in Al-Mahrah Governorate, Mr. Salem Abdullah Nimer, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Sultanate of Oman—its leadership and people—for this generous support, affirming that this gesture reflects the deep fraternal ties and historic neighborly relations between the two countries.

For his part, Dr. Badr Al-Zaabi reaffirmed the Sultanate of Oman’s commitment to supporting the education sector in Al-Mahrah to overcome current challenges, revealing the organization’s aspiration to expand the scope of this project in the near future to include a regular monthly grant for teachers, ensuring the stability of the educational process and recognizing the efforts exerted in this vital sector.
