Rights Network: Houthi Attack Using “Heavy Weapons” on a Tribe in Amran

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms has condemned, in the strongest terms, the armed attack launched by the Houthi armed group against the Dhu al-Qarih tribe, one of the Bani Arjala tribes in the Amran Governorate, northern Yemen.
In a statement, the network accused the armed group of using machine guns and heavy artillery in a brutal assault that violates humanitarian laws and norms.
The attack resulted in injuries to several innocent civilians and terrorized women and children, reflecting what the statement described as the “criminal nature” of the Houthi militias and their disregard for civilian lives and dignity in a horrifying scene.
The network called upon local and international media, civil society organizations, and human rights and humanitarian bodies to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities. It urged them to work on exposing and covering the grave violations targeting tribesmen in the district, which suffers from a media blackout and an almost total absence of human rights monitoring.
The network held the Houthi group fully responsible for these “terrorist crimes,” stating they contradict the customs and traditions of Yemeni society, the principles of Islam, and all international human rights conventions.
Furthermore, the network emphasized that these crimes will not be forgotten over time (no statute of limitations), calling for the perpetrators to be held accountable and brought to justice, for victims to receive redress, and for an end to the escalating series of violations against civilians across various Yemeni regions.
