Governor of Aden Directs Immediate Commencement of Military Troop Relocation Outside the Interim Capital

The Minister of State and Governor of Aden Governorate, Abdulrahman Sheikh, stressed today, Monday, the immediate commencement of implementing procedures to redeploy military forces to locations outside the boundaries of the temporary capital, Aden, in accordance with a carefully planned timeline and in full coordination with the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff, and the relevant military authorities.
This directive came during a meeting between the Governor of Aden and the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Major General Ahmed al-Basr; the Commander of the Military Police, Major General Mohammed al-Shaari; and the Assistant Minister of Defense, Major General Mohammed Batays. The meeting reviewed the implementation mechanisms for the repositioning plan and the associated security and organizational aspects.
The Governor indicated that the specialized security apparatuses—including the police, road security, emergency forces, facility protection, and the Security Belt forces—will assume responsibility for maintaining security in the capital. He stressed the need to end military presence within residential neighborhoods to enhance stability and preserve the city’s civilian character.
The attendees affirmed the importance of adhering to the specified schedule and ensuring the success of the repositioning process to support security and stability, and to solidify the foundations of law and institutionalism in the interim capital, Aden.
