Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, announced the successful takeover of military camps in the governorates of Hadramout and Al-Mahra, the temporary capital Aden, and the rest of the liberated governorates. He affirmed that this step was taken to protect citizens, entrench the state’s legal authority, and safeguard constitutional frameworks at a pivotal stage that leaves no room for ambiguity or compromise.
In a televised address to the Yemeni people, the president stressed that the difficult decisions taken by the leadership in recent days were not driven by a desire to use force, but rather by a national and moral responsibility to protect public tranquility, preserve citizens’ dignity, and fully adhere to the constitution, the law, and the references of the transitional phase.
Supreme Military Committee and Readiness for All Options
President Al-Alimi announced the formation of a Supreme Military Committee under the leadership of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy. The committee will be tasked with preparing, equipping, and commanding all military forces and formations, and raising their readiness for upcoming obligations should the Houthis continue to reject peaceful solutions. He emphasized that the option of peace remains on the table, but that the state will not hesitate to complete its battle to restore its institutions and end the coup.
He underscored that the state will not allow disputes to be managed through the logic of weapons, the undermining of established frameworks, or the confiscation of citizens’ will in the north or the south. He called for national unity, wisdom, and the mobilization of all capacities in service of the goal of restoring the state.
The Southern Issue as a Priority and Guarantees for Its Resolution
President Al-Alimi renewed his assertion that the just Southern issue tops the priorities of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government. He announced a response to appeals from the people and components of the southern governorates to convene an inclusive Southern Dialogue Conference under Saudi sponsorship, in recognition of the South’s long struggle and the great sacrifices of its people.
He affirmed that the sacrifices of the people of the southern governorates will not be in vain, stressing that their rights are neither denied nor questioned. He said the leadership has committed—both in word and deed—to addressing the Southern issue within the references of the transitional phase, with regional and international guarantees and a responsible partnership that preserves dignity and safeguards the future. He pledged full and sincere support for the outcomes of the Southern Conference.
The president noted that Yemen’s suffering over the past years is a direct result of the Houthi coup, which has exploited the country’s resources to destabilize regional security and build militias. He said the Houthis continue to refuse to sit at the negotiating table, despite the clear message of the Presidential Leadership Council since its formation: peace or the continuation of the battle.
He called on all those who have strayed from the path to hand over their weapons, return looted assets in all their forms, and rejoin the ranks of the state that has room for everyone.
President Al-Alimi also said he had issued directives to all governors to double their efforts and adhere to the highest levels of responsibility and discipline during this exceptional phase, ensuring the continuity of basic services, improving living conditions, and safeguarding citizens’ human dignity.
He stressed that strengthening security, addressing any security gaps or vulnerabilities, and protecting social peace are national commitments and sovereign duties that brook no delay or compromise, to ensure the cohesion of state institutions and enhance their ability to withstand challenges.
The president reaffirmed the state’s commitment to close partnership with brothers in the leadership of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy and with the international community to combat terrorism, halt arms smuggling, secure maritime routes, and deter cross-border threats.
He also expressed Yemen’s deep appreciation—leadership, government, and people—for the sincere fraternal role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, in supporting the Yemeni people, their constitutional legitimacy, unity, security, and stability. He affirmed that this support will remain etched in the national memory and met with lasting gratitude and loyalty.
