In a significant field development that reshapes the city’s security landscape, forces affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council (STC), including the “Storm” and “Protection” brigades, have departed the temporary capital, Aden, heading toward Ad-Dhale Governorate.
Local sources reported that all military formations belonging to the STC withdrew from Aden, while other regular forces took over the tasks of securing sites, camps, and checkpoints previously under STC control, amidst strict security measures to prevent any breaches.
In the same context, sources confirmed the deployment of the Giants Brigade (Al-Amaliqa) across several prominent government institutions, as well as at the entrances and exits of Aden, to secure sovereign headquarters and vital facilities and maintain security stability.
In the first official comment on these developments, the spokesperson for the Joint Forces on the West Coast, Waddah Al-Dubais, stated to Yemen Monitor that the governorates of Aden and Lahj have been fully secured. He emphasized that the field situation is under complete control as part of a mandate to enforce security and stability.
Al-Dubais explained that the primary tasks assigned to the forces focus on protecting citizens, safeguarding public and private property, and securing all vital facilities to ensure the continuity of services and public peace.
He added that the security leadership has issued a stern warning to anyone seeking to destabilize security or spread chaos, asserting that legal and security prosecution will target anyone proven to be involved in acts of sabotage, and there will be no leniency in confronting attempts to undermine security.
These developments come amid political and security tensions that have gripped the southern governorates in recent days, following presidential decrees stripping Aidarous al-Zubaidi of his membership in the Presidential Leadership Council and referring several military commanders to trial. These events have been accompanied by military escalation and coalition airstrikes targeting camps and weapons depots in the governorates of Ad-Dhale and Hadramawt.
