Socotra Residents Appeal for Rescue of Boat Stranded Near Al Mahrah Coast

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
Residents of the Socotra Governorate appealed on Saturday to local authorities, the Coast Guard, and relevant agencies in both Socotra Governorate and Al Mahrah Governorate to urgently rescue a fiberglass boat carrying several people who are reportedly stranded under difficult humanitarian conditions off the coast of Al Mahrah.
According to a widely circulated appeal, the boat departed Socotra last Wednesday and is currently near the Sayhut Port in Al Mahrah Governorate.
The residents stated that those aboard the vessel are suffering from severe shortages of food and drinking water and require an immediate rescue and towing operation to prevent a humanitarian disaster.
They warned that the lives of the passengers are now at risk and called on the relevant authorities to act without delay to reach the boat and provide the necessary assistance.
The appeal also urged citizens, media outlets, and activists to help publicize the situation and contact the responsible authorities in order to accelerate rescue efforts.
As of the time of publication, no immediate comment had been obtained from the relevant authorities regarding the appeal.
