Egypt Reaffirms Commitment to Political Path and De-escalation in Yemen to the UAE

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty discussed developments in Yemen and ways to support de-escalation efforts in a phone call today, Tuesday, with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the call is part of ongoing consultation and coordination between the two countries on regional issues. Both sides emphasized the importance of encouraging a comprehensive Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue leading to a political settlement that preserves Yemen’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

The ministers reaffirmed their countries’ support for the political track and the necessity of creating appropriate conditions to reach a comprehensive and sustainable solution, contributing to the security and stability of Yemen and the region.

This diplomatic coordination coincides with Riyadh’s preparations to host a Comprehensive Southern Conference, which aims to bring various southern factions to the negotiating table to discuss “just solutions” for the Southern Cause.

Currently, the governorates of Hadramawt and Al-Mahra are experiencing a period of calm following clashes between the Southern Transitional Council (STC) forces and government forces supported by the Saudi-led Coalition. These confrontations concluded with government forces re-establishing control over both governorates.
