Hadramawt Governor Orders Investigation into Deductions from Teachers’ Salaries

The office of Hadramawt Governor Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi has been closely following what has recently circulated regarding the deduction of ten thousand Yemeni riyals from the salaries of teachers, educators, and contracted staff for the month of November 2025.
In a statement addressed to public opinion and the educational and teaching community in the governorate, the governor’s office affirmed that the Governor of Hadramawt categorically denies issuing any directives to deduct any amounts from teachers’ entitlements, stressing that what has been circulated in this regard is inaccurate.
The statement noted that the local authority’s leadership is fully aware of the scale of sacrifices made by teachers and considers them the cornerstone of social stability and the building of future generations. It emphasized that teachers in Hadramawt enjoy a high status and great appreciation, and that the stability of the educational process and the safeguarding of the rights of educational staff are among its top priorities. It added that no arbitrary measures that affect teachers’ livelihoods or undermine their dignity will be tolerated.
Based on the complaints submitted, the governor directed the competent authorities in the governorate to promptly investigate the reasons behind this deduction and to address the issue immediately, stressing that teachers’ rights must not be infringed under any pretext, and that any amounts unlawfully deducted must be returned as quickly as possible.
The local authority in Hadramawt also affirmed that, once general conditions and the security situation stabilize, the file of improving teachers’ living and professional conditions will be placed at the top of its agenda, in direct coordination with the government, with the aim of reaching fundamental solutions that ensure teachers a dignified life befitting their noble mission.
