Saudi Arabia: UAE Military Movements in Hadramawt Pose Threat to National Security and Are a Red Line

Yemen Monitor – Newsroom:
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement issued on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, expressed the Kingdom’s regret over the pressure tactics employed by the United Arab Emirates on forces of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), pushing them to engage in military operations on the southern border of the Kingdom in Hadramawt and Al-Mahra provinces.
Riyadh confirmed that these steps constitute a serious threat to Saudi national security and to the security and stability of Yemen and the region.
This came in an official response to the recent developments and unauthorized military movements by the Arab coalition, which involved the transfer of ships loaded with weapons and heavy vehicles from the Emirati port of Fujairah to the Yemeni port of Mukalla without official coordination with the leadership of the coalition’s joint forces.
The statement emphasized that the UAE’s actions contradict the principles upon which the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen was founded and do not serve the ongoing efforts to achieve Yemen’s security and stability. The Kingdom affirmed that any threat to its national security represents a red line that it will not hesitate to confront with all necessary means and support.
In a related context, Saudi Arabia reiterated its full support for the Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council and his government, stressing that the southern issue has historical and social dimensions and can only be resolved through comprehensive political dialogue that includes all Yemeni factions, including the STC.
In a clear message to the UAE, the Kingdom called for compliance with Yemen’s request for the withdrawal of Emirati forces from its territory within 24 hours and the cessation of military and financial support to any party within Yemen. Riyadh expressed hope that wisdom, principles of brotherhood, and good neighborliness would prevail to strengthen common Gulf relations and preserve the stability and prosperity of the region.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted in its statement the importance of joint action among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to achieve security and peace in Yemen and the region in general, reaffirming the Kingdom’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with the UAE in a manner that serves the interests of the Gulf and brotherly Yemen.
