Yemeni Presidential Council Member: Saudi Arabia Is a Steadfast Supporter, and Its Message Is a Call for Dialogue, not a Threat

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Abdullah Al-Alimi, a member of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, affirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s stance toward Yemen remains firm and responsible, reflecting sincere concern for Yemen’s security and stability, and support for its just causes—foremost among them the Southern Cause—within the framework of a comprehensive political solution based on partnership and dialogue.

In a statement published on the “X” platform, Al-Alimi said that the message of His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Salman, Saudi Minister of Defense, clearly reflected the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting Yemeni legitimacy and restoring the state. He stressed that Saudi Arabia has been, and continues to be, a true pillar of support for Yemen at various stages.

He noted that Saudi support directly contributed to the liberation of the temporary capital Aden and the protection of the southern governorates, in addition to the sacrifices and political, economic, and humanitarian assistance provided by the Kingdom—support that played a leading role in the resilience of the Yemeni people and in alleviating their suffering.

Al-Alimi, speaking in his capacity as a state official and on behalf of the people of the South, affirmed the South’s deep appreciation for the Kingdom’s clear stance on the justice of the Southern Cause and its centrality to any comprehensive political settlement. He considered that ensuring its fair representation through dialogue and consensus is the way to preserve dignity and safeguard sacrifices from exploitation or reckless adventurism.

The Presidential Council member emphasized that the fraternal and historic relations between Yemen and the Kingdom constitute a fundamental pillar of regional security and stability. He affirmed that the people of the South have stood—and will continue to stand—alongside Saudi Arabia, in the belief that sincere partnership is the closest path to achieving just peace and lasting stability in Yemen.

In a direct message, Al-Alimi called on the STC to read the Saudi Defense Minister’s message as a call born of concern, not a threat. He stressed that the strength of the South lies in its cohesion and unity, not in draining its energies through internal conflicts.

Al-Alimi concluded his remarks with an explicit call to unite ranks, preserve lives, protect achievements, and not give adversaries an opportunity to tamper with the future of the South and Yemen. He stressed that responding to the voice of reason reflects an awareness of the sensitivity of the current phase and its challenges, at a time when people in both the South and the North can no longer bear adventures that would undermine the gains achieved.

Earlier, Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud called on the STC in Yemen to prioritize wisdom and unity, respond to Saudi-Emirati mediation efforts, and withdraw its forces from Hadramowt and Al-Mahra.

In a post on the “X” platform, Khalid bin Salman said:
“It is time, in this sensitive phase, for the STC to prioritize reason, wisdom, the public interest, and unity, by responding to the Saudi-Emirati mediation efforts to end the escalation, withdrawing their forces from the camps in the two governorates, and handing them over peacefully to the Nation’s Shield Forces and the local authorities.”

He also noted that “the Kingdom and the rest of the Coalition countries have made sacrifices of their sons and capabilities, alongside their Yemeni brothers, to liberate Aden and other Yemeni governorates.”

He stressed that “the Kingdom is keen that those sacrifices made to restore land and state do not become a gateway to new conflicts, that security be preserved for all Yemenis, and that those sacrifices not be exploited to achieve narrow gains.”

He explained that “the unfortunate events since the beginning of December 2025 in the governorates of Hadramowt and Al-Mahra have led to a split in the ranks in the face of the enemy, squandered what the Coalition and the Yemeni people sacrificed for, and harmed the just Southern Cause.”
