“Al-Hamoum” Tribes Condemn STC Violations in Hadramawt and Warn of Undermining Social Peace

Yemen Monitor / Al-Mukalla / Newsroom:
Members of the Al-Hamoum tribes in Al-Mashqas issued a strongly worded statement condemning the practices of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias in Hadramawt province, emphasizing their severe nature and violation of law, the constitution, and international human rights conventions.
The statement pointed to systematic raids on civilians’ homes without legal warrants, arbitrary arrests, and cases of enforced disappearance carried out by these militias, stressing the seriousness of these violations that undermine social peace and fundamental human rights.
The statement noted that a military siege has been imposed on areas of the Al-Hamoum tribes, such as Wadi Khard, Halfoun, and Ghayl Bin Yamin, restricting freedom of movement and unlawfully preventing the transfer of patients, in addition to assaults on private property, acts of looting, and theft, which constitute crimes under international humanitarian law.
The tribespeople condemned these practices, holding the perpetrators and those who issued the orders fully legally accountable. They called on relevant local and international authorities to intervene urgently to lift the siege, halt the violations, ensure freedom of movement, release all arbitrary detainees, and protect civilians and their property, while holding those responsible accountable in accordance with legal systems.
The statement affirmed that justice and the rule of law are the fundamental pillars of any stability, and any deviation from this is legally and morally unacceptable. It called for an immediate end to the violations to safeguard the rights and security of the people.
