Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
British Minister for the Middle East, Himesh Faulkner, welcomed the call for de-escalation and peace in Yemen issued by the UN Security Council, reaffirming the United Kingdom’s full support for the country’s stability and an end to the bloody conflict.
In an official statement, Faulkner said his country’s position is clear and firm regarding humanitarian and political issues in Yemen. He emphasized the necessity for the Houthis to immediately release all detainees, particularly those arrested on December 18, as part of protecting civilians’ rights and achieving tangible steps toward resolving the crisis.
The Minister added that threatening field humanitarian relief workers carries great danger and cannot be tolerated in any form by the international community. He warned of the repercussions of these violations on humanitarian operations aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni population.
