Yemeni President Discusses Containing Escalation in Hadramawt and Al-Mahra with Parliament Speaker

Yemen Monitor – Newsroom:

Head of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad al-Alimi, met on Thursday with Parliament Speaker Sultan al-Barakani and two members of the Parliament’s Presidency Council, Mohammed al-Shaddadi and Mohsen Basura. The meeting focused on the latest national developments, with an emphasis on the situation in the eastern governorates and efforts to contain the political, economic, and service-related repercussions.

This meeting follows al-Barakani’s recent visit to Aden, where he met with the head of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Aidarous al-Zubaidi, as part of mediation efforts to resolve the crisis stemming from the unilateral military measures taken by the UAE-backed Council in Hadramawt and Al-Mahrah.

During the meeting, al-Alimi affirmed support for regional and international efforts, including moves by the Saudi and UAE-led Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, aimed at de-escalation and restoring normalcy in the two governorates.

The President also commended the Parliament’s stance in rejecting any military movements or unilateral actions, emphasizing commitment to national frameworks and the Riyadh Agreement.

Concluding the meeting, President al-Alimi stressed that the southern issue remains part of the comprehensive political solution, with due consideration for the rights and demands of the population within the framework of legitimacy and popular will.
