UN Report: Conflict Displaces Over 24,000 in Yemen, Marib Receives the Largest Share

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced that more than 24,000 people have been displaced in Yemen since the beginning of the current year until mid-December 2025, with over 4,000 families registered as displaced. This compounds the humanitarian situation and increases pressure on host communities and the country’s deteriorating infrastructure.

In its latest Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) report, issued on Monday, the organization stated that 24,588 individuals from 4,098 families were displaced at least once during the period from January 1 to December 13, 2025.

This displacement comes amid continued conflicts and escalating tensions that have led to successive waves of displacement in several areas.

  • Marib province continues to receive the largest number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in northeastern Yemen, hosting 51% of the total displacement cases, equivalent to 2,080 families.
  • Taiz province ranked second, registering the displacement of 929 families.
  • Hodaidah province followed, witnessing the displacement of 611 families, reflecting the ongoing security challenges and their direct impact on population movements.

According to IOM sources, this massive displacement intensifies the pressure on essential services and infrastructure in these provinces, which are already suffering from difficult economic and health conditions due to the protracted war.

The report clearly indicates that the continuous displacement waves necessitate an effective international response to support both the displaced people and the host communities, given the worsening living conditions and the escalation of armed conflicts in Yemen.
