Lawyer Sabra on Hunger Strike in Protest of Solitary Confinement and Denial of Rights

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Lawyer Abdulmajeed Sabra has announced that he is on a hunger strike at the Security and Intelligence Prison in Sana’a, where he is being held in isolation within a solitary cell.

Walid Sabra, the lawyer’s brother, stated that Abdulmajeed appealed to the Lawyers Syndicate, pleading for his basic rights, including permission for visitation, but his request to be moved from solitary confinement was rejected.

Walid added that the security authorities have not requested any guarantees or commitments from his brother, noting that Abdulmajeed’s health is deteriorating as a result of the hunger strike and the conditions of his detention.

His family holds Sana’a authorities fully responsible for his safety, emphasizing the urgent need for intervention to either secure his release or improve his conditions of detention.

According to reports from local sources, lawyer Abdulmajeed continues his strike in protest of the denial of his fundamental rights, amidst serious concerns over the dangerous decline of his health.
