Shabwa National Council Rejects STC Escalation and Its Takeover of Hadramowt and Al-Mahra

Yemen Monitor – Newsroom:
Shabwa National Council affirmed its rejection of the use of force to impose new facts on the ground in Hadramowt and Al-Mahra, in reference to the Southern Transitional Council’s (STC) military-driven takeover of the eastern governorates.
In a statement, the council said recent developments represent a dangerous departure from the political and social trajectory of the east, as well as from the frameworks governing the current phase—chief among them the Riyadh Agreement and the Power Transfer Declaration.
The council said it had followed with deep concern the events in the eastern governorates over recent days, along with the bloodshed and violations that it described as a direct result of using force to impose realities that do not reflect the will of the local population.
It called for an immediate halt to this approach and a prompt return to state institutions, stressing the need to adopt dialogue as the means for resolving disputes, preserving established understandings, and ensuring a stable environment for government work and the completion of economic reforms.
Shabwa National Council stressed that relying on weapons does not create stability but rather lays the groundwork for future conflicts, urging all sides to prioritize national interest and reason in order to restore the eastern governorates to a path of peace and security.
The council also praised the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in stabilizing conditions in eastern Yemen, calling on all parties to engage constructively with these efforts and to enable the people of Hadramowt, Al-Mahra, and Shabwa to fully manage their own affairs in a way that guarantees their security, stability, and prosperity.
