Growing Appeals to Rescue Thousands of Displaced Persons in Marib, Eastern Yemen

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
Marib Girls Foundation (MGF) concluded the activities of the final workshop under the “Leaders of Tomorrow” project, which aims to enhance community advocacy efforts and mobilize support for displacement camps in Marib Governorate, eastern Yemen.
The workshop saw the participation of several directors from executive offices in the local authority, representatives of civil society organizations (CSOs), and youth initiatives involved in the project.
During the event, five short films were screened, documenting the conditions of displaced persons in five different camps. The films highlighted the most prominent challenges facing thousands of families, primarily:
- Shelter crisis
- Scarcity of safe drinking water
- Difficulties in completing education
- The hardships of winter, which intensify the already harsh living conditions
This activity is part of a project focusing on supporting advocacy initiatives by CSOs, funded by Oxfam GB. The workshop featured a presentation of the results from campaigns and field efforts implemented during the previous period.
Participants stressed that the primary objective is to mobilize humanitarian and financial efforts to support the displaced people enduring difficult conditions inside the camps. They emphasized the importance of enhancing coordination between the local authority and international and local organizations to ensure that the response reaches the most affected families.
