On Saturday, the Yemen U-17 national team secured a significant 2–0 victory over Kyrgyzstan in their opening match of the AFC U-17 Asian Cup qualifiers.
The first half ended in a goalless draw. However, player Saber Sanad opened the scoring ten minutes into the second half. Three minutes before the end of regulation time, Silan Bashir added the second goal, sealing the victory for the Yemeni team.
Upcoming Schedule: The Yemeni team will play its second match against Guam on Monday, followed by Cambodia on Wednesday, and Pakistan on Friday. They will conclude their campaign with a match against Laos on the 30th of this month.
Qualification Context: According to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the winners of the seven groups will qualify for the finals. They will join the teams of Qatar, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, North Korea, Japan, Tajikistan, the UAE, and Indonesia, who have already secured their participation in the 21st edition of the AFC U-17 Asian Cup, scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia from May 7 to May 24, 2026.
