Yemeni Parties Announce Support for Leadership’s Drive to Restore the State and End the Houthi Coup

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The National Bloc of Political Parties and Components in Yemen announced on Tuesday its full endorsement of the directions outlined by the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, and the outcomes of the National Defense Council meeting, affirming its support for all measures aimed at restoring state institutions and ending the Houthi group’s coup.
In a statement, the Bloc expressed its support for the Armed Forces and security agencies in carrying out their duties, calling on various national forces and the Yemeni people to back their efforts in confronting the Houthi group. It considered the attacks and threats targeting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as representing a threat to Yemeni national security, regional security, and the international community.
The statement noted that the legitimate government adhered to the option of peace for more than six years and offered repeated opportunities for peaceful efforts to succeed; however, the Houthi group, backed by Iran, met those efforts with intransigence and exploited truce periods to reorganize its positions and bolster its military capabilities.
The Bloc welcomed the decision to resume oil exports and dedicate its revenues to serving citizens, considering that this step will enhance the state’s capacity to fulfill its obligations and ease living burdens.
It also praised the state of consensus among the political, military, and legislative leadership regarding the recent directions, expressing appreciation for the support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the legitimate government, and calling on the international community to take practical steps to implement UN Security Council Resolution 2216 and enhance support provided to the Yemeni government in confronting the Houthi group.
In conclusion, the Bloc expressed its confidence in the ability of Yemenis to restore their state and end the coup, stressing that the country possesses the necessary assets to overcome this phase and open a new chapter of stability.
The National Bloc of Political Parties and Components includes 22 political parties and groups, most notably the General People’s Congress, the Yemeni Congregation for Reform (Islah), the Yemeni Socialist Party, and the Nasserist Popular Unity Organization.
