Fierce Battles East of Al-Jawf as Yemeni Army Reports Dead and Wounded Among Houthi Fighters

Yemen Monitor / Al-Jawf / Majed Abdo:
Yemeni army forces on Saturday managed to thwart an attack launched by Houthi fighters on military positions east of Al-Jawf Governorate (eastern Yemen), after the Houthis attempted to advance toward the army’s front-line positions, inflicting losses on them in personnel and equipment.
Military sources told Yemen Monitor that army units in the Sixth Military Region engaged in fierce clashes during which they were able to repel a Houthi attack in the “Jawwas” sector east of Al-Jawf and force the fighters to retreat after sustaining heavy losses in equipment, in addition to deaths and injuries among their ranks.
The sources explained that the armed forces’ drones targeted Houthi military vehicles attempting to flee the confrontation sites, resulting in the destruction of several of them and increasing the scale of losses suffered by the Houthis during their failed assault.
The sources added that a Houthi vehicle exploded on a landmine that the group had planted earlier, killing and injuring those on board—an incident that reflects significant disarray within their ranks.
The battlefronts east of Al-Jawf have witnessed intermittent clashes since the army in the Sixth Military Region announced its military deployment to cut off smuggling routes and carry out a strategic security deployment last October.
