Yemen Monitor / Al-Jawf / Exclusive:
Two children sustained severe injuries resulting in the amputation of parts of their limbs after a landmine left behind by the Houthi group exploded yesterday in Al-Jawf governorate (northeast Yemen).
Local sources told “Yemen Monitor” that the child Morsi Jamal Abdul Nasser (13 years old) and the child Al-Rashash Murad Abdul Nasser Al-Sharai (12 years old) sustained severe injuries from a landmine explosion in the Al-Yatmah area, north of Al-Jawf.
The sources added that “Al-Rashash” had his right hand amputated and sustained severe injuries to his body, while “Morsi” had his fingers amputated and also sustained severe injuries to his body.
In a statement to “Yemen Monitor,” the head of the “Adalah” organization, Saleh Askar, stated that the landmines planted by the Houthi group continue to claim the lives of civilians in Al-Jawf governorate. He described what happened to the two children yesterday as a heinous crime, adding to the series of Houthi crimes for which the group bears full responsibility for the recurring casualties.
The head of the “Adalah” organization called on the United Nations, the international community, and all regional actors to exert pressure to compel the Houthis to remove the landmines and secure the lives of citizens in Al-Jawf governorate.
